In Need of Reset
Happy Friday!
A week before the month started, I was in desperate need of a reset. I sent a text to a friend saying, “can I just get to inbox zero… on my life.” I felt all over the place with the usual busyness of summer. In my mind, I was behind on everything, in a constant state of catch up. All of the weekends in June (and most of May) were accounted for. Each weekend brought new and fulfilling experiences, and I would not have it any other way. I can truly say I’ve had a full summer so far. I’m grateful.
Here’s what I did to reset with limited time:
- Ditched “I’ll do it later.” - Procrastinating was not getting me anywhere but a longer to do list. Plus, there is nothing more daunting than looking at a task that could have been done weeks ago. Once clearing that daunting task from the list, I realized it actually was easier than my mind wanted me to believe.
- Baby steps - Not everything needs to be completed at once. Small progress is better than none at all. Cleaning in small spurts goes a lot farther than one might think.
- Scheduling routines with grace - Without a consistent schedule, my routines are the first thing to go. Setting a day to go to the grocery store, work out, or wash clothes is more beneficial than just assuming it would happen at some point during the week. I needed a tiny bit of structure to get things done.
In the next couple of weeks, I’ll be able to slow down, rest, and continue working on my goals. I still have the vision from last month in the back of my mind. Frankly, I’ve only had time to focus on one of the three goals. There’s a work-life balance, and I’m accepting that right now I’m living. I’m looking forward to the rest of the summer.
Here are a few pictures from the past month :)
